Our Purpose
The Yolo Pride Democratic Club is a progressive organization composed of registered 2SLGBTAIA and Allied Democrats focused on fighting for the liberation of Queer and marginalized people in all aspects of social, economic, and political life. The 2SLGBTQIA identity is inherently intersectional and so we cannot achieve liberation for Queer people without also fighting for the other underrepresented or marginalized communities to which we belong. The Yolo Pride Democrats Club’s goal is to help elect to public office qualified Democratic Party candidates for local, state, and national office who are openly two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual as well as allies who support equal rights for the 2SLGBTQIA community.
On behalf of 2SLGBTQIA Candidates and Initiatives that positively support the Queer Citizens of Yolo County, the Yolo County Pride Democrats board and members ensure the following key task are performed on a regular basis:
** 2SLGBTQIA advocacy
** Lobbying
** Connecting with voters through phone & text banking along with post card mailings
** In person canvassing throughout Yolo County
** Fundraising activities on behalf of the club, candidates, and/or various initiatives

Club Endorsements
Endorsements of candidates and ballot measures are one of the most important components of our advocacy work. Local offices play a huge role in protecting the rights and shaping the future of our county, state, and federal government.
Candidates interested in pursuing an endorsement from Yolo County Pride Democrats Club 1) must be a registered Democrat and 2) are required to complete a candidate questionnaire shared via email. After receiving your completed questionnaire, we will set-up a candidate interview (virtual or in-person, TBD by the YCPD executive board). For the purposes of the 2026 California Elections (June and November) in all races under consideration for local/county, state and national/federal offices.
Yolo County Pride Democratic Club endorses in a wide variety of races at all levels of government but does not typically endorse outside of Yolo County. In some cases, the Club may make exceptions for LGBTQ+ candidates, in races with a compelling reason to “flip” a seat from non-Democratic control, or where the LGBTQ+ community is a vested stakeholder.
If you are a non-Yolo County LGBTQ+ candidate that would like the Club to consider your campaign for an endorsement, please send your contact information and a (no more than) one page bio to chair@yolopridedems.org.
